MID CENTURY MODERN MAN CAVE

Here are some shots of the room I designed for Adroll HQ. They came to me with a broom closet and a dream for a hidden office that they could escape to.

A bit of background about Adroll, they are a retargeting platform for mobile advertising. As traditional advertising agencies shrink, they’re industry is booming. They are the modern ad men.

I thought, how fun would it be to play tribute to the era where it all began (plus, I always jump at an opportunity to design a space in MCM). Enter Madroll. A hidden room with a bookshelf door. You pull a book and enter a dark and warm room with a whiskey bar cart and vintage ads lit up on the walls.

Art & Craft: My new line of stationary on Etsy

I’ve begin playing with hand silk-screening my designs and illustrations onto stationary. I have just launched my Etsy site ArtandCraftSF where you can purchase these beauties. Plenty more designs and color to come! I will post and more and more come out. I would love to know what you all think.

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

Today is my last day at 215mccann. A place I have called home for almost two years. It’s a bit bittersweet, and at my going away lunch I got the best fortune a girl could ask for:

So here is to the copywriter’s who made these happen. Because although they type is laid out beautifully, it would be nothing without the meaning. Adios 215,

 

BLACK + WHITE TYPOGRAPHY

Is great. You don’t get sick of it, and it always looks classy and clean. I just redid my logo last week, and made it hot pink. I am already sick of it. Check out some great black and white logos below. All design giddy worthy I think. Now they just need to put a gnome on it.

THE COLORS OF BERLIN

Matthias Heiderich’s bright minimalist photography is currently at Carte Blanche on Valencia Street. I walked past it this past weekend and couldn’t help but stop and check it out. His use of color is amazing. Who knew Berlin, or any city, for that matter could be so colorful? GO GO GO.

The art “word” on him is that, “Viewed together or individually, each of Matthias Heiderich’s images transform the banality and universality of buildings into a mosaic of geometrical shapes, reconstructing the world we live in into an abstract canvas of lines, patterns, angular compositions, and vibrant colors.”

The Lulu “word” on him is that his photography is awesome and vibrant and would look amazing on any wall. It’s some of the more stunning photography I’ve seen in a while and I’m dying for a piece, or ten.

RENEGADE CRAFT REVIEW

I went to the Renegade Craft Fair at Fort Mason this past Sunday and here are some of my favorite things.

Honey & Bloom is a whole line of beuatiful graphic posters, cards and totes. Beautifully crafted and simple lines.

Coatt Morse Coded Goods are cute necklaces and stationary with saying on them in morse code. They have great gold embossed branding, which was why I really fell in love with them.

My favorite stand in the craft fair was a leather goods company called Materials + Process. I loved the craftsmanship in such a beautiful medium. I have recently been really into learning this craft to work into my leash line, and their mission statement sums up why I love leather so much:

“_MATERIAL: Vegetable Dyed leather. This particular process tans the leather with plant based dyes. It has no coating and so your history and adventures are embedded in the material of the product.

_ PROCESS: Designing professionally has become very cerebral. It was, and still is, a personal challenge to follow through with skill to make the products I designed here. Leather is an unforgiving material that warrants craft. Its been a journey where every cut, every curve, and each stitch requires a lot of deliberation and patience. What started as material studies, has now become a collection.”
